Live Performance Australia [LPA], today released its Ticket Attendance & Revenue Survey 2009, which for the first time includes State-based breakdowns of sales and two new categories; Comedy and Circus & Physical Theatre.
Endorsed by the Australian Performing Arts Centres Association (APACA), The Australian Major Performing Arts Group (AMPAG) and Live Performance Australia (LPA).
Live Performance Australia (LPA) today announced the List of Nominations in each of the 42 categories for the 2010 Helpmann Awards®. The announcement was made concurrently at the Sydney Opera House, and at the Arts Centre, Melbourne. Additionally, the LPA announced that Tony Gould AM and Brian Nebenzahl OAM RFD are the recipients of the prestigious JC Williamson Award™. This Award recognises an extraordinary contribution by distinguished members of the live entertainment industry, and will be presented at the Helpmann Awards®. Kathryn Sadler, Chair of the Brian Stacey Memorial Trust announced that Burhan Güner is the winner of the Brian Stacey Award for Emerging Australian Conductors, and presented Burhan with a $7,000 prize. Burhan Güner is the 14th recipient of this award.
Live Performance Australia recently launched its first benchmarking study on the Size & Scope of the Live Entertainment Industry 2010 by Ernst & Young. The Study finds that the industry generated revenues of $1.88 billion in 2008 and contributed $1.1 billion to the Australian economy making it larger than film and video production, sports and physical recreation, book publishing and horse and dog racing.
In 2010, the Helpmann Awards® will celebrate its 10th year with lively celebrations, recognising excellence and achievement in Australian live performance, to be held at the Sydney Opera House on Monday, 6 September 2010. A new award for Best Cabaret Performer is also announced.
The 2008-09 LPA Annual Report is now available, containing information about our activities and achievements throughout the year.

Live Performance Australia - Who Are We?


Live Performance Australia (LPA) is the peak body for Australia’s live entertainment and performing arts industry. Established in 1917 and registered as an employers’ organisation under the Workplace Relations Act 1996, LPA’s activities centre around three core areas:

• Workplace Relations
• Policy & Strategy
• Membership Services & Events

Our members work in the live performance sector across all artistic genres, including contemporary and classical music, musicals, theatre, comedy, dance, opera, circus and physical theatre. We represent producers, venues, promoters, performing arts companies, festivals and industry suppliers such as ticketing companies and technical specialists.

LPA also services the cinema and exhibition industries.

LPA is the trading name of the Australian Entertainment Industry Association (AEIA).
