LPA welcomes A Place to Create strategy for SA’s art, cultural and creative industries

Live Performance Australia, the peak body for Australia’s live arts and entertainment industry, has welcomed today’s launch of the strategy for South Australia’s arts, cultural and creative industries.

A Place to Create recognises the broad-ranging economic, social and cultural benefits of arts, culture and creativity for South Australia,’ said Eric Lassen, LPA CEO.

‘The strategy sets out an overarching and whole-of-government approach to support South Australia’s artists and cultural and creative organisations and businesses.

‘It plays to South Australia’s demonstrated strengths but also sets out a plan to go further in building the contribution of the arts, cultural and creative industries to South Australia’s economic and social wellbeing,’ Mr Lassen said.

The 2025-27 Delivery Plan includes welcome initiatives to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts and culture; promote the development of new and original work; address training and skills development opportunities and build career development pathways; strengthen industry capacity and capability; and, take more South Australian art and creativity to global audiences.

LPA also welcomes the commitment to explore funding and investment models, including philanthropic, private and commercial initiatives. LPA’s proposal for a live theatre tax incentive is such an example of an innovative approach which could support more investment in arts and creativity in South Australia.

‘We congratulate Premier Malinauskas, Minister for Arts Andrea Michaels and CreateSA on the launch of the policy, and we look forward to working with them and our colleagues across South Australia’s arts, cultural and creative industries in realising the strategy’s potential,’ Mr Lassen said.
